Aztecs Deal Gamblers 3-1 Defeat

The Mexico City Aztecs got a magnificent performance from pitcher Dave Corfield, who muffled the Atlantic City offense en route to a tight 3-1 Aztecs win at The Ballpark at Bally's. Corfield got the win, improving to 5-5. He allowed 3 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Corfield allowed 1 run. Mexico City is now 28-34.
Mexico City used the timely hitting of Adam Backhouse to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Aztecs on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Mexico City manager Felipe Murillo.
