Surfers Cut Down Cyclones, 6-4
|
Greg Clover was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Omaha Cyclones. The center fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Long Beach Surfers. Ralph Boyd, the winner, improved to 3-5. He held the Cyclones to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Getting the save was Siu-chung Zhan, his 3rd.
In the top of the sixth, the Surfers grabbed the lead when Clover hit his 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Arturo Meza made it 6-4, Long Beach.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Clover. "It eases the tension."
Long Beach bumps their record to 31-27 with the win.
