Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Madison Wolves got the win.

The Madison Wolves overcame a good performance by Des Moines designated hitter Wilson Alomar to knock off Des Moines, 4-3, at Edward Murphy Memorial Stadium. Alomar went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Lucas Wood got the win, improving to 8-8. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The save went to Wesley Turner, number 31 for him.

Carl Clements made an early impact for Madison when he stroked his 28th double of the season. The 2-run double, which came with two out in the top of the second, put the Wolves on top, 4-0.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Des Moines skipper Mel Jenkins, "and it cost us."

The Wolves now have a record of 53-73.
