Wolves Rally For 3-2 Win
|
The Madison Wolves had to overcome a good performance from Des Moines pitcher Tommy Akers to claim a 3-2 win at Edward Murphy Memorial Stadium. Akers went 6 innings and allowed no runs. At 52-73, the Wolves are currently 7th in the Frick League Heartland Division.
Madison used the clutch hitting of Cordell Vaughn to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolves ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"That's baseball," said Des Moines manager Mel Jenkins. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
