Des Moines got a terrific game from catcher Andy Elmer. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Madison, 7-5. Elmer went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Madison has a record of 51-73, placing them last in the Frick League Heartland Division.

Madison used a well-timed hit by José Romero to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Wolves ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Romero, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
