Surfers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Bluebirds
|
The Long Beach Surfers faced a tough opponent in Nashville pitcher Jim Fleming, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Les Paul Field by a final score of 4-2. Fleming went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Scott Everard closed it out for his 3rd save. At 29-25, the Surfers are currently third in the Frick League Pacific Division.
Long Beach needed the clutch hitting of Emílio Reyes to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Surfers on top, 4-2. For the game, Reyes had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Reyes.
