The Phoenix Talons had to overcome a good performance from Mexico City pitcher Dave Corfield to claim a 2-0 win at Ullamaliztli Field. Corfield went 8.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ángel Villanueva, now 1-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. The Aztecs, at 20-22, have lost 4 straight games.
Phoenix took a 2-0 lead on Tomás Borges's 11th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Borges hit in the top of the seventh, left Mexico City pitcher Dave Corfield visibly frustrated.
