The Sacramento Mad Popes picked up a win at The Trail in Multnomah, knocking off the Portland Lumberjacks, 3-2. Starting pitcher Jeff Locke played a key role in the triumph. Sacramento reliever Boulos Naim was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Lewis Norman took the loss. The second-place Mad Popes have won 5 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Don Keagle came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Portland pitcher Luis Equivel, he hit a 2-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sacramento on top, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Locke said after the game.
