In a low-scoring contest, Valencia pitcher Adam Hines was marvelous in his team's 1-0 win. The save went to Martin Román, his 24th this season. Valencia's record now stands at 57-63, placing them 6th in the Frick League Pacific Division.
The Tropics had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Stars going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old right fielder Koray Kapkin came to the plate. Kapkin hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Hawaii hurler Utbah bin Muta. It was Kapkin's 6th home run of the year.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Valencia manager Markus O'Byrne. "Our pregame was pretty good."
