Mad Popes Need Extra Frames to Get Past Lumberjacks
The Sacramento Mad Popes scored a tight 5-4 win versus the Portland Lumberjacks at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. Sacramento pitcher Joe King held his own in the contest. Sacramento reliever Clint Thomas picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Ernie Mark absorbed the loss. The Lumberjacks, now 45-74, have lost 7 in a row.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 14th inning, when Sacramento catcher John Kinsella, facing Ernie Mark, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Mad Popes the 5-4 win.

"This place was electric at the end," Kinsella said.
