Scholars Prevail, as The Face Off Goes to the Wire
|
The Bogota Scholars are heading to the The Showdown, having narrowly defeated the Saint Johns Water Wolves.
Bogota edged Saint Johns in the series 2-1, with a win at Saint Grounds in the clinching game by a 6-2 margin.
Jubair Nazim turned in a strong offensive performance for the Scholars and got series MVP for his efforts.
"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Supremacy Series win."
It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Nazim continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.
For the series, he hit .455 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Bogota Scholars will play against the Daytona Beach Cruisers in the next round. Daytona Beach won their series against the Coxen Hole Schooners 2 games to 0. The The Showdown is scheduled to begin on August 30th , 2058.
