Mad Popes Go Down to Defeat, 7-6
|
The Louisville Sluggers weathered an outstanding game by Sacramento second baseman Ryan Geauxinue to topple the Mad Popes, 7-6. Geauxinue was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the win was Alberto Romero. He went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 3. Cade Miller was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 9 save opportunities.
The Sluggers grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With one out, Ka'im Khayri hit a 3-run home run off Thomas Turner, putting Louisville in front, 6-4. For Khayri, it was his 15th home run of the season.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Bernardo Herrera.
The first-place Mad Popes have lost 4 straight games.
