Big Day for Puente: Swats 5 Hits
Even as a kid, Roberto Puente said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Vulcans Stadium today, Puente showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 37-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Victoria Purple Knights, helping his team knock off the Johannesburg Freedom by a score of 21-7.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."

Roberto Puente doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a three-run double in the 7th.

This year Puente is hitting .309 with 86 hits, 4 home runs, 37 RBIs and has scored 35 runs.
