It wasn't easy but the Victoria Purple Knights made it look that way.

Starter David Torres shut out the Port Elizabeth Windies despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Victoria Purple Knights cruised to victory, 10-0. Torres allowed only 5 hits and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

This year Torres has fashioned a 6-1 mark, 2.65 ERA and pitched 51 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .205 against him and he has logged 42 strikeouts.
