Red-Hot Bat: Díaz Collects Cycle
Jesús Díaz did everything he could for the Adobe Acrobats -- literally.

The 14-year-old third baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Acrobats, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Bacardi 152s, 16-8, at Ballpark of Buffalo HS.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Díaz reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Díaz banged out 4 hits in 4 at-bats and totaled 6 RBI and 2 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Jesús Díaz walked in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ethan Postlethwaite in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

For the season, Díaz is hitting .500, batted in 29 runs with 9 home runs and 20 runs scored.
