Bears Beat Mad Popes, 4-1
|
San Fernando Bears starter Morgan Tomsett pitched a strong game against the Sacramento Mad Popes at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough, leading the Bears to victory, 4-1. Tomsett, now 9-13, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Bob Butler earned the save for San Fernando, his 1st.
Early in the game, third baseman Roberto Rivera had a 2-run home run for San Fernando. It was his 29th home run of the season and put the Bears on top, 2-1.
Rivera called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
With the victory, the Bears record now stands at 79-82.
