Pilots Suffer 4-3 Setback

The Sydney Sharks took Sao Paulo pitcher Mrej Stavnicky's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Bucharest. The final score had Sydney getting past the Pilots, 4-3. Stavnicky went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Richard Balgera was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Carlos Rocha finished the game for Sydney and earned his 23rd save.
Sydney used the clutch hitting of Wasim Ala' to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sharks ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Sao Paulo manager Dermott Dalling.
The win puts the Sharks at 46-51, while the Pilots drop to 48-49.
