Fighting Centaurs Lose Late, 7-4
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers handed the Athens Fighting Centaurs a loss at Piraeus Park. The final score was 7-4. Eli James was one of the major contributors for Jerusalem. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 1. The winner was Jerusalem reliever Kent Jones, now 4-7. The loser was Max Dawe. At 48-51, the Hebrew Hammers find themselves in 6th place in the GBC.
The outcome might have been different for Jerusalem, had it not been for Tariel Bogolyubski, the former first overall pick . Bogolyubski stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Jerusalem up, 7-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Bogolyubski told reporters after the game.
