Pharaohs Clonk Fighting Centaurs, 9-0
|
The Athens Fighting Centaurs and Cairo Pharaohs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Cairo starter Theodore Puckett kept the Athens hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 9-0. Puckett, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Shane Smith? The Cairo shortstop had a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Pharaohs on top, 7-0. For the game, Smith had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Theodore is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Cairo manager Stan Hampton.
The win lifted the Cairo record to 31-27.
