Bluebirds Squelch Stars Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Nashville Bluebirds got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jim Fleming, who muffled the Valencia offense en route to a tight 3-0 Bluebirds win at Dunn Field. Fleming got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Fleming allowed no runs. Quirke Roddis was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 24 save opportunities.
Nashville relied on the hitting of Jorge Canó to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 2-0. For the game, Canó had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Canó told the Nashville Times.
The Frick League Heartland Division-leading Bluebirds are 48-21.
