Mounties Pull Even With 2-1 Victory
The Vancouver Mounties had to overcome a fine performance from Omaha pitcher Arturo Meza to grab a 2-1 win at Northwoods Outpost. Meza allowed 2 runs over 8 innings. Phil Cole, the winning pitcher, is now 3-2. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 2. Picking up the save was Xuan Ngo, his 15th.

The Mounties got a big at-bat from catcher Davenport Hinkle. For the game, Hinkle went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Julián Negrete.

Vancouver, at 34-34, holds down 4th place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
