Wolves Curb Bears, 2-1
|
The Wolves grabbed a win, 2-1, at Shotz Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from San Fernando pitcher Fernando Ferretti. Ferretti went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Wesley Turner closed the game out for Madison, earning his 19th save. With the win over San Fernando, the Wolves improved to 27-41.
In the bottom of the sixth, Madison first baseman Manobu Shimizu put his team on top. With one out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 16th home run of the year. San Fernando pitcher Fernando Ferretti served it up. Just like that, the Wolves were ahead, 2-1.
In postgame comments to the Madison Today, Shimizu said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
