The Des Moines Kernels got a sterling performance from pitcher Dave Lachance, but the Portland Lumberjacks still prevailed, 6-5. Lachance threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Portland reliever Jacob Cruz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Garth Dobbs took the loss. The losing streak for Des Moines has now reached 4 games.

Daniel Frampton was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lumberjacks third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Frampton told the Portland Observer. "It's as simple as that."
