Multi-HR Day for Serrano as Padres Overpower Yankees, 7-1

The San Diego Padres beat the New York Yankees, 7-1, at Yankee Stadium. The Padres got a fine performance from third baseman Pedro Serrano, who belted 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 4. Mark Morgan earned the win to go to 5-4. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Scott Waller earned the save for San Diego, his 18th of the year.
David Sargent, the 25-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sargent contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego up, 4-1.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Serrano.
The second-place Padres now have a win-loss record of 27-26.
